Berlin Pub and Restaurant

The Berlin Pub and Restaurant in Plettenberg Bay is a local favourite, and with good reason!

The Berlin brand of restaurants started out life on a smallholding in Muldersdrift, in Gauteng. The owners, Wolfgang and Barbara Hieckman, at the time planned to retire and moved from Krugersdorp to a smallholding in a more rural setting. Wolfgang would prepare traditional German food from his homeland for visiting friends. Soon the word got out about the delicious German fare and before long, the Berlin Pub and Restaurant was born, named after Wolfgang’s place of birth.

The Berlin Pub and Restaurant in Plettenberg Bay is a local favourite, and with good reason! It is an entirely family-friendly joint (with a wild side that comes out later in the evening) situated in the heart of Plett.

The Plett branch is homely with a simple décor theme. The wooden furniture looks like it was taken straight out of your kitchen while the simple white walls are given a pop of colour by the red curtains and place mats.
Outside is a different story though, and the Sports Bar and Dance Bar have a distinctly more rustic feel with wooden benches and a more obvious indoor-outdoor flow. The garden is smattered with wooden benches, allowing patrons to enjoy a meal outdoors while watching the kids play on the jungle gym.

The menu is a winner as it boasts a range of traditional German fare such as schnitzels and Eisbein served with sauerkraut. There is also a range of classic pub fare like grills and since it’s in Plett, it wouldn’t be the same without a good seafood selection.
