The main motivation for opening a place like the Blah Blah Bar was to create a “community” space for creative like-minded peeps: Those who love music, (not just any music though); who luuuurve a good party – but who also question the status quo; who don’t blindly accept that the world we live in is without alternatives. We want to understand the world in which we live, so we can change it – if we want. In other words, the Blah Blah Bar stands for music-crazy, fun-loving activists. Or something like that. We like partying, but we also have a serious undertone. And anyone with a good idea is invited to bring it to life with us. Naturally, the shoe must fit the foot…
Our focus is very much live music, and to date we have hosted Dax Butler, The Suitcase Hearts, Wrongman, The Time Flies,Ottoman Slap, Them Tornadoes, Taleswapper, Mr Cat & The Jackal, Nomadic Orchestra & Los Tacos, amongst others. We’ve rocked with some of the best bands in Cape Town!
Someone in an innovative fit approached us to host Vivaldi’s Four Seasons – an idea that we immediately embraced. This series of concerts was so successful that we thought that we should do this monthly.
And on Wednesday nights we are hosts to the best of Cape Town’s folk/acoustic scene jamming it up on our downstairs stage.
